[11:49:09 EST(-0500)] <justin_o> ecochran: hello... I noticed something about the progress indicators... not sure if it is with my code or not
[11:49:22 EST(-0500)] <ecochran> justin_o: do tell
[11:50:01 EST(-0500)] <justin_o> if i set the progress to some value... lets say 75% and then resize the window... the the progress bar changes size but the progress indicator does not
[11:50:16 EST(-0500)] <ecochran> hmm
[11:50:36 EST(-0500)] <ecochran> that makes sense...
[11:50:45 EST(-0500)] <ecochran> or I should say that I understand it
[11:51:15 EST(-0500)] <ecochran> is there a place that I can look at it?
[11:51:49 EST(-0500)] <justin_o> sure... if you go to the sandbox and look at the progress-indicator directory you can check it out
[11:52:07 EST(-0500)] <ecochran> interesting that the indicator changes size, do you mean that it changes position or size?
[11:52:41 EST(-0500)] <justin_o> no... the bar itself that contains the progress indicator will resize with the window but the indicator does not... i hope I'm not confusing the names...
[11:52:51 EST(-0500)] <justin_o> the coloured portion doesn't change size
[11:54:43 EST(-0500)] <ecochran> no, I'm confusing things
[11:54:50 EST(-0500)] <ecochran> I meant to ask about the bar
[11:55:05 EST(-0500)] <ecochran> justin_o: does that bar change size or postion?
[11:55:37 EST(-0500)] <justin_o> yes... the bar does change size
[11:55:45 EST(-0500)] <justin_o> hmm.. you know maybe it isn't
[11:56:00 EST(-0500)] <justin_o> i placed something over top and removed the borders... so it may not be
[11:57:55 EST(-0500)] <justin_o> a quick inspection with firebug makes it appear that the bar is resizing
[11:58:14 EST(-0500)] <justin_o> ecochran: ^
[11:59:50 EST(-0500)] <ecochran> justin_o: OK, now I really want to see it... there are probably somethings that I should be doing to handle relatively sized elements... but even so, I'm sure that there is a bug with resizing because of the way the bar is positioned...
[11:59:54 EST(-0500)] <ecochran> I'll take a look
[11:59:55 EST(-0500)] <ecochran> cool
[12:01:45 EST(-0500)] <justin_o> ecochran: thanks... i'm doing some weird things with progress bars... basically i'm putting three one top of each other... i don't think this should have any effect, but just in case, I thought I should let you know
[12:02:20 EST(-0500)] <ecochran> justin_o: well, I have to admit, that I never expected it to be used that way... but it's cool that you can
[12:03:08 EST(-0500)] <justin_o> thanks... oh I also wanted to ask you what delay does
[12:05:41 EST(-0500)] <ecochran> justin_o: delay is the amount of time before the Progress indicator is hidden.
[12:06:11 EST(-0500)] <justin_o> oh okay.... thanks
[12:06:37 EST(-0500)] <ecochran> This is so that an event can tell the Progress bar to hide after a delay so that the user can register the update... mostly useful when getting to the end of progress
[12:06:42 EST(-0500)] <ecochran> justin_o: ^
[12:07:25 EST(-0500)] <justin_o> i get it now... thanks
[12:16:06 EST(-0500)] <ecochran> anastasiac: re: that last release issue in JIRA about the Wiki
[12:16:16 EST(-0500)] <ecochran> I've done all the tasks that I can do
[12:16:38 EST(-0500)] <ecochran> I don't think that anyone has cleaned up the design pages recently but they're also in pretty good shape
[12:16:41 EST(-0500)] <anastasiac> well, I'd say the issue can be closed now, and we should "release" the version
[12:16:59 EST(-0500)] <ecochran> what does that mean, to "release" the version
[12:17:01 EST(-0500)] <ecochran> ?
[12:17:22 EST(-0500)] <anastasiac> in JIRA's version management, you can mark a version as "released"
[12:17:36 EST(-0500)] <anastasiac> do you have admin priviledges in JIRA?
[12:17:46 EST(-0500)] <ecochran> anastasiac: I don't know
[12:17:54 EST(-0500)] <ecochran> anastasiac: which probably means that I don't
[12:17:56 EST(-0500)] <anastasiac> you'd see an ADMINISTRATION tab along the top
[12:18:02 EST(-0500)] <anastasiac> with create new issue, etc

[12:18:16 EST(-0500)] <ecochran> anastasiac: I do, I do!
[12:18:22 EST(-0500)] <anastasiac> (smile)
[12:18:48 EST(-0500)] <anastasiac> if you go there and manage the fluid project, on the right you'll see the versions, with a Manage link
[12:19:06 EST(-0500)] <anastasiac> next to each version, there's a "release" link
[12:19:21 EST(-0500)] <anastasiac> ecochran, find it?
[12:19:40 EST(-0500)] <ecochran> I got it
[12:19:49 EST(-0500)] <ecochran> should i put the actual release date or today?
[12:20:16 EST(-0500)] <anastasiac> I'd put the release date
[12:20:24 EST(-0500)] <ecochran> Done!~
[12:21:01 EST(-0500)] <ecochran> anastasiac: yesterday I built the filters for 1.0, that was fun
[12:21:12 EST(-0500)] <anastasiac> excellent!
[12:21:15 EST(-0500)] <ecochran> lots of new things to learn in Jira
[12:21:28 EST(-0500)] <ecochran> someone should probably check up on me to see if I did it right
[12:21:37 EST(-0500)] <anastasiac> I'll have a look, but I'm sure it's fine
[12:21:38 EST(-0500)] <ecochran> anastasiac: again, thanks for all your help
[12:21:43 EST(-0500)] <anastasiac> np
[12:23:30 EST(-0500)] <anastasiac> ecochran, your filters look great
[12:23:38 EST(-0500)] <ecochran> thx
[12:23:44 EST(-0500)] <anastasiac> can't wait to see something in the Resolved Issues list (wink)

[14:24:55 EST(-0500)] <ecochran_> justin_o: looking at your progress pages... very cool! It's kind of fun how it animates.
[14:25:34 EST(-0500)] <ecochran_> Any concern that you might end up with a progress that is out of phase... in other words one of the steps is actually behind the ones after it?
[14:26:10 EST(-0500)] <justin_o> that is very possible... I'm hoping that I'll be able to take care of that with the renderer
[14:26:39 EST(-0500)] <justin_o> my plan would be to have it place all of the complete items at the front and so on, so the order may change
[14:26:48 EST(-0500)] <ecochran_> cool
[14:26:56 EST(-0500)] <ecochran_> I'm looking at the bug now
[14:27:22 EST(-0500)] <justin_o> oh good thanks... please let me know if it is just something with the way I have it set up
[14:39:26 EST(-0500)] <ecochran_> justin_o: there is a basic problem, but it's not your problem. It's a problem with the way that the Progress code is written.
[14:40:27 EST(-0500)] <ecochran_> basically the indicators are calculated using pixels... this was to avoid some rounding errors that happened with converting the widths reported back from the DOM into percentages
[14:40:51 EST(-0500)] <ecochran_> widths in the browser are always reported back as pixels even if they are defined as percentages.
[14:41:17 EST(-0500)] <ecochran_> so what we need is a "refresh" method that gets called when the viewport resizes.
[14:41:22 EST(-0500)] <ecochran_> which we don't have now
[14:42:11 EST(-0500)] <ecochran_> however, in looking over your code, I realized that there maybe a much simpler way to structure the page and get the same effect. (It would fix this resize problem, unfortunately)
[14:42:26 EST(-0500)] <ecochran_> I'm going to mess around with it while I eat my lunch and see what I can come up with
