fluid-work IRC Logs-2010-12-16
[08:09:48 CST(-0600)] <jessm> Justin_o: I'm ready for some testing – anything in particular i should focus on, or just start somewhere
[08:10:42 CST(-0600)] <Justin_o> jessm: just double checking what the state of all the pending reviews are... at the moment you can start in on any available inline edit and progress tests.. but there should be a some more opening up soon
[08:11:17 CST(-0600)] <jessm> Justin_o: from Colin's email it looks like reorderer is open now too?
[08:13:43 CST(-0600)] <Justin_o> jessm: yep.. looks like everything but uploader is good to go
[08:15:00 CST(-0600)] <jessm> jhung: what are you testing?
[08:23:22 CST(-0600)] <jhung> Win7 Inline Edit
[08:24:08 CST(-0600)] <jhung> ^jessm. Then Progress Win7 after that
[08:24:17 CST(-0600)] <jessm> gotcha
[08:24:29 CST(-0600)] <jessm> i'm going to start with grid reorderer for mac ff
[08:26:12 CST(-0600)] <anastasiac> Justin_, Bosmon has posted a patch for FLUID-3881 - commenting on any unsupported function in the Reorderer code. Am I right in guessing that this is probably not something to break code freeze with?
[08:30:20 CST(-0600)] <Justin_o> anastasiac: given that reorderer is a production component... i think we may want to get that in
[08:30:30 CST(-0600)] <Justin_o> no one has yet started testing reorderer
[08:30:39 CST(-0600)] <Justin_o> except for jessm
[08:30:40 CST(-0600)] <Justin_o>
[08:30:56 CST(-0600)] <anastasiac> ok, I'll review and commit, then (and re-deploy to the server). It's just comments, so shouldn't affect any functionality
[08:31:01 CST(-0600)] <Justin_o> so maybe we can put a halt to it... get a code review and commit and then restart reorderer testing
[08:31:07 CST(-0600)] <Justin_o> anastasiac:
[08:31:08 CST(-0600)] <Justin_o> thanks
[08:37:14 CST(-0600)] <anastasiac> fluid-everyone: rebuilding the demo site - will be down for a couple of minutes
[08:39:18 CST(-0600)] <jessm> Justin_o: i just applied all the latest Mac patches to my machine OS and Safari – I assume I'm good to do testing with that config
[08:39:26 CST(-0600)] <anastasiac> fluid-everyone: demo server is back up - have at it!
[08:40:42 CST(-0600)] <Justin_o> jessm: yep should be fine
[08:44:26 CST(-0600)] <jessm> Justin_o: are there tests for the grid reorderer anywhere?
[08:45:35 CST(-0600)] <jessm> i just see image, layout, and other where other is vertical list, jquery tabs, and regression tests
[09:00:09 CST(-0600)] <jhung> mlam, anastasiac, and other inline edit testers: I have completed my testing and posted my notes here: http://wiki.fluidproject.org/display/fluid/Infusion+1.3+Testing+Notes+-+Inline+Edit Feel free to add.
[09:12:35 CST(-0600)] <Justin_o> jessm: you can use the image reorderer tests for that one
[09:12:40 CST(-0600)] <Justin_o> should be roughly the same
[09:12:51 CST(-0600)] <jessm> Justin_o: roger that
[09:24:03 CST(-0600)] <anastasiac> jessm, you're missing some tasty treats...
[09:24:30 CST(-0600)] <jessm> anastasiac: some distance between me and a large supply of cookies is a very good thing
[09:24:38 CST(-0600)] <anastasiac> LOL
[09:24:55 CST(-0600)] <anastasiac> yes, it would be a good thing for me, too - unfortunately, the treats table is at this end of the room...
[09:35:45 CST(-0600)] <jessm> Justin_o: should i be doing the WCAG tests for image reorderer, etc too or just the main tests?
[09:36:29 CST(-0600)] <Justin_o> jessm: for now just the main tests... i think we can look at some of the wcag stuff when we do the check all shipped examples..
[09:36:39 CST(-0600)] <jessm> Justin_o: awesome!
[09:42:42 CST(-0600)] <jessm> i don't get a scroll bar on resizing the browser window on the Grid Reorderer
[10:17:25 CST(-0600)] <cindyli> anastasiac: just let u know a patch has been attached to 3910, the one for builder php unit tests.
[10:19:09 CST(-0600)] <anastasiac> cindyli, thanks. Is the latest trunk at http://source.fluidproject.org/svn/fluid/infrastructure/infusionBuilder/trunk ?
[10:19:16 CST(-0600)] <jhung> wheee. found a weird bug with image reorderer. In IE8, after refreshing the page, you can only reorder an item once before focus is lost to the outer container.
[10:20:31 CST(-0600)] <jhung> Appears to only happen in IE8. I think it has something to do with how IE8 attempts to keep things in focus between page refreshes.
[10:22:34 CST(-0600)] <cindyli> anastasiac: yes
[12:37:30 CST(-0600)] <jhung> heidi_: http://wiki.fluidproject.org/display/fluid/Infusion+1.3+Testing+Notes+-+Image+Reorderer
[12:39:50 CST(-0600)] <jhung> heidi_: updated http://wiki.fluidproject.org/display/fluid/Infusion+1.3+Testing+Notes+-+Reorderer
[12:41:27 CST(-0600)] <heidi_> cool
[13:12:02 CST(-0600)] <heidi_> raspberry squares are so goood
[13:36:19 CST(-0600)] <jessm> jhung: you mentioned at standup that you were documenting inline edit issues on the wiki
[13:36:23 CST(-0600)] <jessm> jhung: is that true?
[13:36:54 CST(-0600)] <jhung> jessm: yep. Let me find you a link.
[13:37:10 CST(-0600)] <jessm> jhung: oh, i see the image reorderer links above
[13:37:21 CST(-0600)] <jhung> http://wiki.fluidproject.org/display/fluid/Infusion+1.3+Testing+Notes+-+Inline+Edit
[13:37:29 CST(-0600)] <jhung> It's a child page to the tasks page.
[13:37:32 CST(-0600)] <jessm> i'm wondering if that's bypassing jira or if this the preferred way to document? – thoughts?
[13:37:43 CST(-0600)] <jhung> I'm not going to bypass Jira.
[13:37:49 CST(-0600)] <jessm> ah
[13:37:52 CST(-0600)] <jhung> It's just a place to put stuff before filing jiras.
[13:37:56 CST(-0600)] <jessm> gotcha
[13:38:15 CST(-0600)] <jhung> Also so people can see notes already made so duplicate jiras don't eventually be made.
[13:38:17 CST(-0600)] <jessm> consider me a buttinsky who is just taking the directions literally on the King's testing instructions page
[13:38:42 CST(-0600)] <jhung> jessm: lol
[13:39:39 CST(-0600)] <jessm> i've also heard about 4 different versions of "Let it Snow" today – there has to be a temporal impact eventually
[13:39:52 CST(-0600)] <jhung> jessm: I think in the past it was okay because we had less to test, but now with more people and more browsers and components, bug herding becomes an interesting challenge.
[13:40:03 CST(-0600)] <jessm> roger that
[13:40:18 CST(-0600)] <jessm> just sos everyone knows what to expect from it all
[13:40:32 CST(-0600)] <jessm> and wehre to look
[13:53:03 CST(-0600)] <jessm> Justin_o: red is a failed test i presume – do i just tell you? http://build.fluidproject.org/infusion/tests/component-tests/reorderer/html/LayoutReorderer-test.html
[13:53:20 CST(-0600)] <Justin_o> jessm: which one is failing
[13:53:20 CST(-0600)] <Justin_o> a
[13:53:29 CST(-0600)] <Justin_o> and what browser?
[13:53:36 CST(-0600)] <jessm> #3 in FF
[13:54:04 CST(-0600)] <Justin_o> jessm: if you click on that, is it the 10th one that failed?
[13:54:26 CST(-0600)] <jessm> yes
[13:54:34 CST(-0600)] <Justin_o> okay.. try refreshing your browser
[13:54:39 CST(-0600)] <Justin_o> let me know if it still fails?
[13:54:54 CST(-0600)] <jessm> Justin_o: voila – passed – user error?
[13:54:54 CST(-0600)] <Justin_o> jessm: ^
[13:55:01 CST(-0600)] <Justin_o> jessm: not really sure...
[13:55:28 CST(-0600)] <Justin_o> we had fixed a bug there the other day.. so it may just be caching
[13:55:41 CST(-0600)] <Justin_o> james was also getting it if he opened it in a tab
[13:55:56 CST(-0600)] <anastasiac> Justin_o, is there a public continuum-type page I can use to trigger a redeployment of the Builder from trunk, now that I've committed cindyli's patch?
[13:58:45 CST(-0600)] <jessm> Justin_o: yeah, that's how i got it – opening a tab
[13:58:47 CST(-0600)] <cindyli> anastasiac: builder continuum - http://forge.fluidproject.org/continuum/groupSummary.action but somhow the "build now" does not work, give error "org.apache.maven.continuum.ContinuumException: Project (id=3 doens't have a default build definition."
[13:59:13 CST(-0600)] <jameswy> jessm: FLUID-3926 is where I filed that issue.
[13:59:26 CST(-0600)] <cindyli> anastasiac: Justin_o: i usually rebuild by login server and run ant
[13:59:38 CST(-0600)] <Justin_o> cindyli: hmmm... oh
[13:59:43 CST(-0600)] <Justin_o> i wonder if that broke something
[13:59:52 CST(-0600)] <Justin_o> maybe something got erased?
[14:00:11 CST(-0600)] <cindyli> not sure
[14:00:53 CST(-0600)] <jessm> jameswy: thanks! added ff for mac onto the list
[14:00:59 CST(-0600)] <jessm> will try in safari in a minute
[14:27:59 CST(-0600)] <anastasiac> so Justin_o, cindyli: any idea why the builder continuum is not working? I'd like to be able to redeploy from trunk...
[14:29:00 CST(-0600)] <Justin_o> anastasiac: i'm not sure... i think cindyli had mentioned that she manually deployed..
[14:29:05 CST(-0600)] <cindyli> anastasiac: i have no idea. but i can rebuild by running ant at server if you need
[14:29:28 CST(-0600)] <cindyli> anastasiac: not after anastasiac committed the patch. re-deploying now
[14:29:28 CST(-0600)] <Justin_o> cindyli: have you always manually deployed... or did you use continuum before?
[14:29:38 CST(-0600)] <anastasiac> ok, I'll have to find out how to log in to the server... but we really should get continuum working
[14:29:46 CST(-0600)] <cindyli> Justin_o: used continnum and found it's not working
[14:29:53 CST(-0600)] <cindyli> anastasiac: agree
[14:29:56 CST(-0600)] <anastasiac> ah, thanks, cindyli, for redeploying
[14:30:03 CST(-0600)] <Justin_o> do you remember when the last time it worked was... is this a new issue?
[14:30:26 CST(-0600)] <anastasiac> I've never tried to deploy the builder from continuum - cindyli, have you?
[14:30:53 CST(-0600)] <cindyli> Justin_o: the last time i rmb was when it's still using shell to deploy at continuum.
[14:31:30 CST(-0600)] <cindyli> anastasiac: Justin_o: now the continuum calls ant to deploy builder
[14:32:33 CST(-0600)] <anastasiac> cindyli, let me know when the builder has finished deploying, so I can double-check the unit tests
[14:32:56 CST(-0600)] <cindyli> anastasiac: sure.
[14:34:01 CST(-0600)] <cindyli> anastasiac: done
[14:34:32 CST(-0600)] <anastasiac> thanks, cindyli - looks good now. I'll close the JIRA
[14:34:41 CST(-0600)] <cindyli> anastasiac: great. thx
[14:46:40 CST(-0600)] <cindyli> Justin_o: trying to run dual versions of infusion 1.1 & 1.3, doesn't work. the way to initialize uploader in 1.1 is to call fluid.progressiveEnhanceableUploader(), got a js error: fluid.progressiveEnhanceableUploader is not a function. i've checked and confirmed that 1.1 js is included in.
[14:48:38 CST(-0600)] <cindyli> Justin_o: could it be the conflict of same "fluid" namespace used in both?
[14:51:50 CST(-0600)] <Justin_o> cindyli: i'll come over and show you .. you have to call to the specific version... something like fluid_1_1.functionName
[15:16:24 CST(-0600)] <Bosmon> colinclark: Is uploader review happening now?
[15:16:54 CST(-0600)] <colinclark> Bosmon: Yes
[15:16:57 CST(-0600)] <colinclark> you're late
[15:17:11 CST(-0600)] <colinclark> Bosmon: What's your preference, Connect or Skype?
[15:58:45 CST(-0600)] <Justin_o> jessm: i think we're all heading off to the holiday party now..
[15:58:57 CST(-0600)] <jessm> Justin_o: have fun all!
[15:59:02 CST(-0600)] <jessm> just finishing up some testing
[15:59:08 CST(-0600)] <jessm> I know Santa will notice
[15:59:52 CST(-0600)] <Justin_o> no coal for sure... thanks for the help jessm
[16:00:09 CST(-0600)] <jessm> Justin_o: of course i'm just kidding – i rarely do this much testing – it's fun!
[16:00:30 CST(-0600)] <Justin_o> jessm: glad you're enjoying it...
