Platform.Coop Redesign - Exemplar Sites

Platform.Coop Redesign - Exemplar Sites

    • Organisation of complex information, navigation tab on the left also seems like a good idea

    • Relationship between navigational categories in the menu and the sections on the landing page not clear

      • It is difficult to get a mental map of the site, to know where you are in the site

    • organisation and filtering of the Collections is confusing

    • forced horizontal scrolling in individual sections (when physically scrolling vertically) is very frustrating and confusing

    • no clear indication of what all is on the page or when you've reached the bottom

    • very visually appealing (colours, blocks of text) and simple

    • want similar visual identity

    • narrow and specific focus, full of easy-to-find information

    • interactive, useful, entertaining

  •  https://www.peoplespolicyproject.org:

    • very simple, basically a wordpress site, but does a good job of conveying information.

    • Any well-designed advocacy and research news blog could be a good example

  • Airbnb https://www.airbnb.ca/

    • as a website experience it's highly appealing visually, it offers clear call to actions, and showcases what it is all about by displaying a large number of interesting examples right at the landing page (it's not a content site, so the focus is a bit different).

  • World Economic Forum https://www.weforum.org/ and the Climate Action Tracker websites https://climateactiontracker.org/ Both sites are useful in that they have:

    • information on various topics and areas arranged in drop-down boxes,

    • pill buttons, etc.

    • Focus on freely flowing, coherent, nested HTML and CSS elements over slower-loading and less flexible JavaScript elements,

    • Succinct descriptions of the purpose of each page, and what users can hope to do with the information on each page.

    • clear, bolded, elements of the site that encourages and entices users on how they can take action on issues.
