[09:20:57 CDT(-0500)] <thealphanerd> hey guys.... I'm going to be by the office this afternoon... was thinking about popping in
[09:21:04 CDT(-0500)] <thealphanerd> would that be cool?
[09:43:46 CDT(-0500)] <michelled_> hi everyone, we are having some internet issues in Toronto today
[10:29:06 CDT(-0500)] <jameswy> jessm: York or OCAD for standup today?
[10:30:03 CDT(-0500)] <jessm> jameswy: i am going to miss standup unfortunately
[10:30:08 CDT(-0500)] <jessm> i'm catching up with JT
[10:30:38 CDT(-0500)] <jessm> would like to get y'all a new mic to see if that improves things
[10:31:15 CDT(-0500)] <jessm> i'd assume York
[10:33:04 CDT(-0500)] <anto_> hello harris, i wanted to talk to you about Google OpenSocial Gadget for AChecker
[10:50:31 CDT(-0500)] <harriswong> anto_: hello, sure. Let's chat in the #atutor, irc.oftc.net.
[11:14:59 CDT(-0500)] <heidi_> Justin_o fss skype after lunch ?
[11:24:28 CDT(-0500)] <Justin_o> heidi_: sure... i'll ping you when i'm done
[11:28:50 CDT(-0500)] <heidi_> Justin_o once we finalise linearizing and focus, i think i'll work on FLUID-4172 fl-list-menu causes scrollbars on items when theme applied
[11:42:23 CDT(-0500)] <Justin_o> heidi_: makes sense
[11:42:42 CDT(-0500)] <Justin_o> i was talking to johnny yesterday... i think he will try out our new linearization stuff
[11:43:02 CDT(-0500)] <heidi_> Justin_o oh awesome. still need to try it on all the browsers when we're done too
[11:43:32 CDT(-0500)] <Justin_o> heidi_: yes.. we definitely have to do that
[12:44:03 CDT(-0500)] <michelled> thealphanerd: you are always welcome to come by
[12:44:09 CDT(-0500)] <thealphanerd>
[12:44:13 CDT(-0500)] <michelled> I think you didn't get a response from us earlier
[12:44:18 CDT(-0500)] <thealphanerd> I didn't
[12:44:26 CDT(-0500)] <thealphanerd> I have my other monome with me today
[12:44:28 CDT(-0500)] <thealphanerd> the smaller one
[12:44:30 CDT(-0500)] <michelled> if you want to get our attention either put a person's nick in directly or use fluid-everyone
[12:44:32 CDT(-0500)] <thealphanerd> with an accelerometer in it
[12:44:40 CDT(-0500)] <thealphanerd> ahhh
[12:44:43 CDT(-0500)] <thealphanerd> thanks for the heads up
[12:44:48 CDT(-0500)] <michelled> np
[12:47:24 CDT(-0500)] <michelled> arun197, Avipar, pxl9, thealphanerd: you might find the Jutta's (the director of the IDRC) video on accessibility and design interesting: http://www.vimeo.com/21998510
[12:47:52 CDT(-0500)] <thealphanerd> thanks for the interesting video
[12:47:57 CDT(-0500)] <michelled> np
[12:48:23 CDT(-0500)] <Avipar> aah thats indeed interesting
[12:51:52 CDT(-0500)] <arun197> michelled: oh awesome! Thanks
[12:52:02 CDT(-0500)] <michelled> np
[13:19:09 CDT(-0500)] <arun197> colinclark: Hi! Sent you the first draft of my proposal. Would be great if you can have a look at it
[13:33:34 CDT(-0500)] <colinclark> arun197: Sure, I'll take a look
[13:34:37 CDT(-0500)] <arun197> colinclark: Thanks
[14:17:25 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> heidi_, do you have a minute for some FSS question? I'm looking at the portal demos, and I'm wondering why some classes are being used, since they don't seem to make any difference
[14:17:37 CDT(-0500)] <heidi_> anastasiac sure
[14:17:42 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> I'm looking at http://build.fluidproject.org/infusion/demos/fss/layout/html/layout.html
[14:17:56 CDT(-0500)] <heidi_> k
[14:18:20 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> first off: the headers and footers all have fl-container-flex, but they don't seem to need it, do you know why it's there?
[14:18:48 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> in fact, the column containers have it too
[14:18:50 CDT(-0500)] <heidi_> yeah looks like fl-container-flex overkill is happening.
[14:19:18 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> ok, I wondered if there was something I wasn't understanding...
[14:19:48 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> next: in the one labelled "Header, footer, 1 flexible nested column container and 2 fixed columns. "
[14:19:50 CDT(-0500)] <heidi_> but it sort of follows the philosophy of fss... where it adds flags of info to things. so fl-container-flex just basically says, make it 100% width of the container
[14:20:00 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> hm
[14:20:22 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> but isn't that what it would be anyway?
[14:20:54 CDT(-0500)] <heidi_> so even tho it's not changing anything, cos divs do that by default, it's adding semantic value, and the ability to change it if need be. for me tho, i would just put it on the parent, not every single thing, but i think it's the implementer's call
[14:21:31 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> hm. ok, I'll think about it. I'm trying to put together instructional demos, and I'd like to keep it as clear and uncluttered as possible...
[14:21:31 CDT(-0500)] <heidi_> it's more like yr making the container width explicit, if that makes sense
[14:21:51 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> so maybe an example of a non-100% width might be interesting...
[14:21:54 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> as a contrast...
[14:22:04 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> so, next: in the one labelled "Header, footer, 1 flexible nested column container and 2 fixed columns. "
[14:22:22 CDT(-0500)] <heidi_> i think putting on parent makes sense, cos you can assume children inherit that, but if you want to be super explicit like jacob, it doesn't hurt...
[14:22:33 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> the column container has -mixed and -mixed3 - any idea why?
[14:22:40 CDT(-0500)] <heidi_> looking...
[14:23:41 CDT(-0500)] <heidi_> anastasiac i wouldn't put -mixed in if it were me. just -mixed3
[14:23:56 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> ok, that's what I thought
[14:23:57 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> thanks
[14:23:59 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> and finally:
[14:24:12 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> fl-centered centers the container, but not the things in it, right?
[14:24:25 CDT(-0500)] <heidi_> looking...
[14:24:28 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> do we have anything to centre the things in it? say, in the footer - footer text is often centered
[14:24:57 CDT(-0500)] <heidi_> anastasiac yep looks like it's centring the container, but not doing text-align
[14:25:09 CDT(-0500)] <heidi_> there is a text-align style in fss-text
[14:25:22 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> ok, I'll play with that
[14:25:37 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> thanks, heidi_, it's good to get a sanity check on this stuff
[14:25:44 CDT(-0500)] <heidi_> np! it can be confusing!
[14:25:57 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> especially when the demos have lots of unnecessary stuff in them
[14:26:04 CDT(-0500)] <heidi_> i think some of these demos need fixing
[14:26:33 CDT(-0500)] <heidi_> some of the fss framework tests have weird stuff too
[14:27:34 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> yeah, once we finish the updates to FSS, we should spend time cleaning up the demos
[14:54:57 CDT(-0500)] <heidi_> Justin_o 1.4 thing? http://issues.fluidproject.org/browse/FLUID-4180
[14:58:43 CDT(-0500)] <mlam> Bosmon: I'm looking into the issues that pop up with upgrading to jQuery 1.5.2 . I think we need an equivalent function to fluid.value for setting the text() property of an object if there already isn't one (I can't seem to find it). Passing an undefined property value to the text() function also returns the object itself as opposed to setting the property value to undefined.
[15:02:59 CDT(-0500)] <mlam> Bosmon: for the case of Inline Edit, we are setting the text() value of a textarea element
[16:29:31 CDT(-0500)] <arun197> colinclark: did you like the proposal I sent you?
[16:50:00 CDT(-0500)] <pxl9> michelled: ty for the link to jutta's video, i'll definitely check it out
[17:02:07 CDT(-0500)] <michelled> np pxl9 - it was nice to meet you
[17:02:19 CDT(-0500)] <michelled> pxl9: feel free to drop by anytime
[17:05:27 CDT(-0500)] <pxl9> yes, it was great to meet you as well
[19:14:44 CDT(-0500)] <nelsonhernandez> any fluid members there?
