User Testing

Completed Testing

Uploader User Testing - Round 1

Research questions/goals include:
  • Do users realize they can upload files?  Do they realize they can upload multiple files?
  • Are users successful at uploading a file in general?  A single file from their computer?  Multiple files from their computer?
  • Can a user find a particular file easily?
  • Do users recognize and understand intuitively how to upload files?
  • Is pause/resume upload understandable or does this confuse them
  • Does the user understand that you cannot "cancel" the upload until you first "pause" the upload? Is differentiating between paused and not paused states understandable to users?
  • Are visual affordances meaningful and helpful to users?

Uploader User Testing - Round 2

This test should discover:

  • Do the user realize they can upload multiple files?
  • Is the user successful at selecting and adding multiple files?
  • Can the user pause the upload?
  • Can the user remove unwanted files from the queue?
  • Can the user add additional files to upload?
  • Is it obvious to the users whether the files are successfully uploaded?

Uploader User Testing - Round 3

This test should discover:

  • Whether there is a need for the users to be able to pause or cancel the upload
  • Do the users want Cancel?
  • If the users do want Cancel while uploading, what do they expect Cancel to do? Canceling the entire upload including already uploaded files vs. Canceling remaining files in the queue
  • If the users want the Cancel feature, what would they call it? Possible answers: Cancel, Stop, Close, etc.
  • In what contexts do they want Cancel and what do they expect it to do?
  • Do the users want Pause?
  • In what contexts do they want Pause and what do they expect it to do?
  • Is it obvious to the users whether the files are successfully uploaded?
  • What would the users like to do when they see an error?

  • Is the user successful at selecting and adding multiple files?
  • Can the user stop the upload?
  • Can the user remove unwanted files from the queue?
  • Can the user add additional files to upload?
