[11:37:45 CDT(-0500)] <jameswy> But, HDDs have the following advantages of SSDs: 1) obviously, much more capacity, 2) more writes possible over its lifetime (consumer-level SSDs wouldn't stand up to many data writes, as in the case of, say, a heavily-used DB server), 3) in the case of catastrophic failures, HDDs have better recoverability options than SSDs.
