Notes
Pre-visit scenario
Task: Deciding whether or not to go to the museum that week
- Depends on personal schedule, and what there is to see at the museum
- No issues with Language Selection- Selected Visitor Information- At Visitor Information, would expect
- Customer service information
- Would want contact information to ask about accessibility within the museum, or more ideally, information about accessibility
- General contact information
- Hours of operation
- What one would see at the museum
- Selected Exhibitions,
- Would look at what looks interesting, based on personal preference--in this case, user chose Simply Montreal because user wanted to see how Montreal has evolved
- Depending on whether it's on, would tap on the picture (thumbnail) [note to self: we should perhaps rename "Current exhibitions" to "What's on right now", and change the date range to "On until: ..."]
- Selected Simply Montreal (Exhibition View),
- Looked immediately at the photo, and then read description text. Annoyed that the exhibition wasn't included in the general admissions fee.
- User noted that the images helped with keeping track of what she was looking at
- User noted she'd read three paragraphs of description text at most
Task: Now that you're looking at the exhibition view, how would you dig in deeper?
- Would tap on "About" link of Exhibition View
In-museum scenario
Task: How would you go about learning more about an object you've come across that you're interested in?
- "If I'm really intrigued, and I see the object code, then I think I'd pull out the iPhone."
- Would try to find out how to use the "number thing" (object code)
- Would go into Exhibitions first--but wait a second, there's an "Enter object code" option on the main menu! [note to self: probably need to make "Enter object code" more salient
- Selected Object Code Entry,
- Would simply enter the number as displayed on the label
- At the Artifact View,
- Asked whether it was the same sleigh that was in the object photo printout (i.e., the object that she was looking at)
- Would read the description (note: didn't necessarily expand the description), then expanded audio/video panel
- At A/V panel, would read descriptions of videos, and tap one of the thumbnails (in this case, one about "Horses", because she's intrigued); would expect a little video to play where they talk about the sleigh
- Afterwards would check out more videos
- Would also check out What Other Visitors Enjoyed, and would expect more objects there; commented, "This is alright"
- Would tap "Back" to go back to Artifact View
Task: How would you go about remember the object for the future?
- Would send the URL of the page
- Or send this to her email, by tapping "Send"
- Or would use the "Comment" feature--commented, "I was going to look into George"
