Kathy raises an important point. Our target for solutions may be 3.0, but our options for walkthrough environments may include earlier releases. I think we can learn a lot from looking at services built on earlier versions, keeping in mind that some obvious deficiencies may have already been addressed. I have a feeling that there are a lot of usability and accessibility factors associated with how channel/portlet developers have used edit modes and window states. Some real content management issues may be revealed here, independent of the underlying uPortal release.
