Resource descriptions

It is agreed that any resource descriptions should be based on user needs and preferences (N&P).

There are then some criteria that need consideration:

• do we need standardised resource descriptions or can we rely on search engines, such a Yahoo and Google who gather data and can find suitable resources given the N&P?
• if we need resource descriptions to be in a standard form, what does this mean if we want the standard to be interoperable, technology neutral, etc?
• if we are defining a standard for SC36, do we use the Metadata for Learning Resources metadata standard (N19788)? Note that there is a document that describes why N19788 is generic, interoperable, whatever...
• if we are attempting to have N24751 compatible with N24752, what does this mean....
