IDRC Open Access Projects
The Inclusive Design Research Centre (IDRC) is an international community of open source developers, designers, researchers, educators and co-designers who work together to proactively ensure that emerging technology and practices are designed inclusively.
Projects
The IDRC has many ongoing projects, several of which are open source and open access. Below are links to the working sites for the IDRC’s ongoing open projects. These are not finished products but constantly evolving - feel free to take a look!
-
Baby Bliss Bot — The Baby Bliss Bot project delves into the realm of using AI tools for language development and translation to enhance communication for AAC users who rely on a minority language system.
The article Baby Bliss Bot Project examines the background of Blissymbolics, the potential of AI technology, and the objectives of the project.
The article Baby Bliss Bot - Experiments with AI describes AI experiments conducted by the project so far. These investigations provide valuable insights into both the potential and constraints of these systems, shedding light on their significance to the Baby Bliss Bot project.
See the Articles section on the side menu for other aspects we have worked or are working on.

Financial Inclusion — This project aims to make financial systems more inclusive to people with disabilities (PWD) and Deaf people in Canada.
-
The Accessibility Exchange — A platform and service that connects the disability and Deaf communities and their supporters with organizations and businesses (Federally Regulated Organizations) to work on accessibility projects together.
-
Weavly — A tool designed for everyone to learn about coding. Our goal is to empower all learners with diverse abilities to be creators of their digital worlds, to express themselves using code and art, and to apply these skills to other areas of learning and daily life. Not just learning to code, but coding to learn and create.
