[00:01:50 CST(-0600)] <sgithens> Bosmon colinclark: I'd like to get a quick review of this. https://github.com/GPII/gsettings_bridge/blob/master/gmag-test1.json

[00:02:15 CST(-0600)] <sgithens> I basically, just added the 'key' param to application so I know what to set, from the email list example

[00:02:19 CST(-0600)] <colinclark> oh hi

[00:02:21 CST(-0600)] <sgithens> this is what I'll consume in the gsettings

[00:02:23 CST(-0600)] <colinclark> yes, i'll look

[00:02:41 CST(-0600)] <sgithens> it will assume that ALL the settings are application specific, and won't look for any universal ones

[00:02:46 CST(-0600)] <colinclark> "key" or "id"?

[00:02:50 CST(-0600)] <sgithens> well

[00:02:55 CST(-0600)] <colinclark> Does this essentially represent a unique ID for the app?

[00:02:59 CST(-0600)] <sgithens> jas

[00:03:16 CST(-0600)] <colinclark> I'd lean towards "id," but I'm flexible

[00:03:21 CST(-0600)] <sgithens> well, the app calls it schema

[00:03:22 CST(-0600)] <sgithens> gsettings list-keys SCHEMA[:PATH]

[00:03:34 CST(-0600)] <colinclark> Bosmon: ^

[00:03:57 CST(-0600)] <colinclark> I guess the thing is that a portion of this application block will actually be "standard"

[00:04:31 CST(-0600)] <sgithens> you mean, standard across OS's? I guess there might be a similar concept for the registry and other things

[00:04:36 CST(-0600)] <sgithens> but maybe not for other things

[00:04:40 CST(-0600)] <colinclark> in that other settings handlers will read some of it

[00:04:55 CST(-0600)] <colinclark> yeah, I think probably there's a similar concept for almost all of these things

[00:05:03 CST(-0600)] <colinclark> let me see what the mac calls it, just for fun

[00:05:07 CST(-0600)] <sgithens> (smile)

[00:05:49 CST(-0600)] <colinclark> It's called a "domain" here

[00:08:18 CST(-0600)] <colinclark> Is there a case where we'd have both an "id" and these other things?

[00:09:00 CST(-0600)] <sgithens> colinclark: I'm not sure. My only concern is that 'id' is pretty overloaded. Do you think we might want to use that for something else? If not I'm happy to roll with that for now.

[00:09:11 CST(-0600)] <colinclark> yeah, I guess that's what I was asking

[00:09:14 CST(-0600)] <colinclark> too

[00:09:14 CST(-0600)] <Bosmon> I would tend to see "id" used for instances of things

[00:09:49 CST(-0600)] <Bosmon> If we actually wanted to correspond this directly with a framework usage, we might even use "typeName" here

[00:10:32 CST(-0600)] <colinclark> I think it's probably risky to make that correspondence

[00:11:25 CST(-0600)] <Bosmon> I'd like to see the names pluralised which take lists as values

[00:11:28 CST(-0600)] <colinclark> since it might contain something that is never really resolved to what I would think of as a "typeName"

[00:11:36 CST(-0600)] <Bosmon> "applications" and "parameters"

[00:11:39 CST(-0600)] <colinclark> which is an EL path pointing to an actual function

[00:12:37 CST(-0600)] <Bosmon> I'm actually happiest with "key", of the remaining alternatives

[00:12:50 CST(-0600)] <colinclark> key as opposed to id?

[00:12:52 CST(-0600)] <colinclark> really?

[00:13:07 CST(-0600)] <Bosmon> Yes

[00:13:24 CST(-0600)] <colinclark> what is your motivation?

[00:13:37 CST(-0600)] <Bosmon> Same as the other one... "id" already has some meaning for us

[00:13:46 CST(-0600)] <Bosmon> And tends to refer to instances of things, rather than categories of things

[00:14:05 CST(-0600)] <sgithens> is anyone parsing these formats yet from the email thread? if not i think it makes sense to pluralize those

[00:14:27 CST(-0600)] <Bosmon> What does the "priority" field mean?

[00:14:47 CST(-0600)] <colinclark> we may need to bring this conversation into the "real" world

[00:14:51 CST(-0600)] <sgithens> (smile)

[00:15:11 CST(-0600)] <colinclark> but it allows you to say "I'd prefer JAWS, but I'll take Windows Narrator if it's all you've got."

[00:15:20 CST(-0600)] <colinclark> it's part of the AfA spec

[00:15:22 CST(-0600)] <Bosmon> Ah... sounds like it doesn't belong in this record

[00:15:31 CST(-0600)] <colinclark> Bosmon is blowing our cover with his typing

[01:03:25 CST(-0600)]

[01:18:31 CST(-0600)] <Bosmon> http://build.fluidproject.org/videodemo/videoPlayer/demos/Mammals.html

[08:13:19 CST(-0600)] <Justin_o> Bosmon: I've come across, what I think is, another bug in IoC. http://issues.fluidproject.org/browse/FLUID-4634

[08:13:43 CST(-0600)] <Justin_o> This is something that has changed since 1.4, and that I found when upgrading to the latest Infusion in Decapod.

[08:52:39 CST(-0600)] <michelled> cindyli: I was just testing the current build of the video player and we have a really bad regression - play is no longer working

[08:52:58 CST(-0600)] <michelled> cindyli: any chance you can start to triage that while I try to see what else is broken?

[08:53:00 CST(-0600)] <cindyli> michelled: cannot play?

[08:53:17 CST(-0600)] <michelled> http://build.fluidproject.org/videodemo/videoPlayer/demos/Mammals.html

[09:12:10 CST(-0600)] <anastasiac> cindyli, if you have some time this morning, I've issues a pull request for a small change to the handbook

[09:12:44 CST(-0600)] <anastasiac> jameswy, jessm, checking in: are there any priorities for today? What can I do to help get the handbook ready for its big day tomorrow?

[09:14:43 CST(-0600)] <michelled> cindyli: something was wrong with my computer. I've installed all the updates now and the video player is working fine

[09:15:31 CST(-0600)] <cindyli> anastasiac: i will merge and deploy it

[09:15:38 CST(-0600)] <anastasiac> thanks, cindyli

[09:15:39 CST(-0600)] <cindyli> cool, michelled, a good relief

[09:15:56 CST(-0600)] <michelled> yes (smile)

[09:16:14 CST(-0600)] <michelled> cindyli: do you expect to have anything ready for merging into the video player today?

[09:16:58 CST(-0600)] <jameswy> anastasiac: I think we're pretty well on track for the ILDH. The few things that do bug me might be hard to fix in time--like the gap between display preferences and the top of the browser canvas on different browsers. Or the elegance of UIO with some elements on the screen (e.g., increasing text size reveals line height issues with titles)

[09:17:13 CST(-0600)] <cindyli> not sure, i'm trying to add the buffer indicator onto the scrubber. the css is a pain. not sure if I would be able to get the css figured out today

[09:19:30 CST(-0600)] <cindyli> michelled: ^

[09:21:16 CST(-0600)] <michelled> ok, thx

[09:25:38 CST(-0600)] <cindyli> anastasiac: your pull request has been merged and deployed to the production.

[09:25:59 CST(-0600)] <anastasiac> excellent, thanks cindyli.

[09:26:08 CST(-0600)] <cindyli> np, anastasiac

[09:26:08 CST(-0600)] <anastasiac> jameswy, new arrows are on the production site

[09:37:15 CST(-0600)] <anastasiac> jameswy, I'm able to get rid of the gap above the disp. prefs button, and I'm investigating the scroll bar beside the login link on IE9. I remember we adjusted the spacing, but I can't remember if we increased it, or decreased it. Do you recall?

[09:40:30 CST(-0600)] <Justin_o> michelled: how is looking for the html5/css3 meeting today?

[10:16:34 CST(-0600)] <jameswy> anastasiac: What's the URL to the IDI dev site?

[10:17:08 CST(-0600)] <anastasiac> jameswy, we don't really have one right now - why do you need it?

[10:17:15 CST(-0600)] <jameswy> or, fluid-everyone ^

[10:17:30 CST(-0600)] <anastasiac> we have http://dev.handbook.floeproject.org/index.php/Home, but it's not up-to-date, jameswy

[10:17:49 CST(-0600)] <jameswy> What about IDI?

[10:18:04 CST(-0600)] <anastasiac> oh, shoot, sorry, jameswy. one thing on my mind (smile)

[10:56:55 CST(-0600)] <anastasiac> jameswy: IDI dev site: http://dev.inclusivedesign.ca/wordpress/

[12:10:42 CST(-0600)] <avtar> michelled: the backup video demo site is located here: http://ec2-23-20-112-96.compute-1.amazonaws.com/videodemo/

[12:18:57 CST(-0600)] <jessm> anastasiac: our next point of attack is going to be: http://dev.inclusivedesign.ca/wordpress/

[12:19:01 CST(-0600)] <jessm> we need to do a lot of work there

[12:19:05 CST(-0600)] <jessm> i just talked to jameswy about it

[12:19:14 CST(-0600)] <jessm> we need to create an easy-to-update space for the partners

[12:19:20 CST(-0600)] <jessm> esp. under research and about>people

[12:20:13 CST(-0600)] <anastasiac> jessm, that's the dev site: is there a plan to make it the production site?

[12:21:02 CST(-0600)] <jessm> anastasiac: we need a production site

[12:21:08 CST(-0600)] <jessm> if that's not it, then we need to make one

[12:22:20 CST(-0600)] <anastasiac> jessm, are we at the stage of trying to figure out what kind of system to use (e.g. wordpress vs. drupal vs. etc), or are we decided on wordpress, and just want to improve the affordances?

[12:23:14 CST(-0600)] <cindyli> anastasiac: your pull request #8 has been merged into "mediawiki-1.18.1" branch and deployed to the production server.

[12:23:50 CST(-0600)] <anastasiac> cindyli, wonderful, thanks!

[12:23:57 CST(-0600)] <cindyli> np, anastasiac

[12:24:32 CST(-0600)] <michelled> thx avatar! you rule

[12:26:25 CST(-0600)] <jessm> anastasiac: i'm not sure. last we left off we were fond of WP for a few reasons

[12:26:38 CST(-0600)] <jessm> 1. it gave us a nice authoring environment that we could inject our UIO and other things into

[12:26:50 CST(-0600)] <jessm> 2. it gave us an easy mgmt. interface

[12:26:56 CST(-0600)] <jessm> 3. it gives us flexibility

[12:27:17 CST(-0600)] <jessm> 4. it isn't horrifically difficult to use, so we don't need a ton of modules and a person doing care and feeding

[12:27:53 CST(-0600)] <anastasiac> good arguments

[12:28:38 CST(-0600)] <anastasiac> ok, jessm, should I just check in with jameswy on desired changes, timelines, etc?

[12:28:42 CST(-0600)] <jessm> jameswy: can you and anastasiac sit down and put a plan of attack together for the IDI site? and basically lay out the questions that need to be answered and the next steps that need to be taken

[12:28:45 CST(-0600)] <jessm> yes

[12:29:29 CST(-0600)] <jameswy> jessm: Sure.

[12:48:00 CST(-0600)] <jessm> michelled: this from twitter: @FluidProject fat panels do not work on safari when the twitter widget is on the page. Put the twitter widget in a iframe to work around.

[12:48:06 CST(-0600)] <jessm> from @openvulab

[12:48:58 CST(-0600)] <Kasper> afternoon avtar

[12:49:13 CST(-0600)] <avtar> hey Kasper

[12:49:23 CST(-0600)] <Kasper> sitting in Boulder at hackathon with colinclark and yura (smile)

[12:49:37 CST(-0600)] <Kasper> we we're talking about streaming twitter to the wiki.gpii.net

[12:49:56 CST(-0600)] <Kasper> but this requires a small edit localSettings.php file

[12:50:08 CST(-0600)] <Kasper> is this something you could do on occassion

[12:50:36 CST(-0600)] <avtar> sure

[12:50:47 CST(-0600)] <avtar> could you please send me an email with more info?

[12:50:59 CST(-0600)] <Kasper> yes, I will

[12:51:16 CST(-0600)] <avtar> thanks (smile)

[12:51:23 CST(-0600)] <michelled> thx jessm

[12:51:35 CST(-0600)] <Kasper> avtar: actually we just realized it might be a bit more involved, so will chat will colin to hear if it's worth the effort

[12:51:39 CST(-0600)] <michelled> Justin_o: is that a known bug?

[12:51:50 CST(-0600)] <michelled> Justin_o: see what jessm said at 6:48

[12:52:57 CST(-0600)] <Justin_o> michelled: I haven't heard about it before.. seems specific to something that is in the twitter widget, whatever that is

[12:54:28 CST(-0600)] <Kasper> avtar: nvm - it's too much work - thanks though

[13:02:03 CST(-0600)] <colinclark> anastasiac and jessm: Just catching up… For the IDI website, we're set on WordPress at this point. We've got a nice workflow going with it, and Heidi invested a fair bit of good work into it.

[13:02:48 CST(-0600)] <colinclark> If it is helpful, I can send along Heidi's last list of to dos for the IDI site.

[13:02:49 CST(-0600)] <jessm> colinclark: for what it's worth i think we're good with wp and good with the logo

[13:03:01 CST(-0600)] <jessm> in the mtg. today there was some murmuring about the logo

[13:03:11 CST(-0600)] <jessm> i'm aiming to talk to JT about that and get it cleared up

[13:03:34 CST(-0600)] <colinclark> Cool

[13:03:36 CST(-0600)] <anastasiac> colinclark, we have the wordpress theme in github, but not the full wordpress instance (as we have with the handbook's mediawiki instance). Do you know what the final plan is?

[13:04:24 CST(-0600)] <colinclark> It looks like Heidi didn't quite get those working before she left (sad)

[13:04:53 CST(-0600)] <anastasiac> yeah, I see the projects, but they're empty

[13:05:25 CST(-0600)] <anastasiac> so we'll follow the same model, with master and development branches, and a clean wordpress branch, I assume?

[13:06:46 CST(-0600)] <colinclark> Yes

[13:06:50 CST(-0600)] <colinclark> Most definitely

[14:14:26 CST(-0600)] <anastasiac> cindyli, that pull request is in now

[14:14:27 CST(-0600)] <anastasiac> thanks!

[14:14:55 CST(-0600)] <cindyli> cool. np

[14:18:18 CST(-0600)] <cindyli> done, anastasiac

[15:01:02 CST(-0600)] <anastasiac> cindyli, I've issued another pull request for the handbook, as requested by pixel-perfect jameswy

[15:01:17 CST(-0600)] <cindyli> ok, anastasiac

[15:01:36 CST(-0600)] <avtar> that's a great title

[15:03:11 CST(-0600)] <cindyli> anastasiac: your pull request is in

[15:03:33 CST(-0600)] <anastasiac> cindyli, thanks so much for your continued prompt and patient responses! much appreciated

[15:04:03 CST(-0600)] <cindyli> np, anytime, anastasiac

[20:09:17 CST(-0600)] <sgithens> colinclark

[20:09:27 CST(-0600)] <colinclark> sgithens!

[20:09:30 CST(-0600)] <sgithens> hey, about to finish up this stuff so you can at least call it

[20:09:33 CST(-0600)] <colinclark> awesome

[20:09:38 CST(-0600)] <sgithens> within the next hour or two

[20:09:39 CST(-0600)] <colinclark> we made some changes to its API

[20:09:40 CST(-0600)] <colinclark> eek

[20:09:50 CST(-0600)] <sgithens> to the gsettings api?

[20:09:54 CST(-0600)] <colinclark> erm

[20:09:54 CST(-0600)] <colinclark> yes

[20:09:57 CST(-0600)] <colinclark> to all settings handlers

[20:09:58 CST(-0600)] <sgithens> it's so simple! (tongue)

[20:10:03 CST(-0600)] <colinclark> do you have time to Skype real quick?

[20:10:05 CST(-0600)] <sgithens> sure

[20:10:11 CST(-0600)] <sgithens> give me 5 minutes to set it up

[20:10:23 CST(-0600)] <sgithens> is there something checked in that I can git fetch quick to look at?

[20:10:31 CST(-0600)] <colinclark> sort of no

[20:10:34 CST(-0600)] <colinclark> we'll explain (smile)

[20:19:10 CST(-0600)] <sgithens> sorry, almost got it together

[21:03:51 CST(-0600)] <sgithens> colinclark: Did you guys get a chance to post it?

[21:15:11 CST(-0600)] <colinclark> sgithens: Kasper's still hacking on it

[21:15:20 CST(-0600)] <colinclark> because Bosmon has been hovering over his shoulder

[21:15:26 CST(-0600)] <colinclark> he'll be done in seconds, he says

[21:20:58 CST(-0600)] <colinclark> sgithens: Here it is: http://wiki.gpii.net/index.php/Settings_Handler_Payload_Examples

[21:26:01 CST(-0600)] <sgithens> colinclark

[21:26:06 CST(-0600)] <sgithens> awesome, gonna hack on it for a bit

[21:27:19 CST(-0600)] <colinclark> thanks so much!

[21:27:31 CST(-0600)] <sgithens> colinclark: I have a generic question

[21:27:36 CST(-0600)] <colinclark> okay

[21:27:37 CST(-0600)] <sgithens> if I can remember what is was from the plan

[21:27:38 CST(-0600)] <sgithens> e

[21:27:50 CST(-0600)] <sgithens> oh yeah

[21:28:25 CST(-0600)] <colinclark> yeah?

[21:28:45 CST(-0600)] <sgithens> I can't remember the standard way to take a string and turn it in to the correct js type. So, I'm parsing the results from gsettings. 'true' should parse to js type true, 4096 should go to a number, etc etc
