Step 1: Place the printed grid tiles together on a hard and flat surface and tape the edges of each sheet to secure it in place.

Alternative configurations: If you don't have access to a printer, try other techniques to build a grid map. Just remember that the width and the length of each cell on your grid should be equal to the distance your robot is traveling by each movement. Here are a few suggestions for building a grid map:

  • Draw a grid map on a large sheet of paper
  • Use masking tape to build a grid map on the floor

Tip: If you are doing this activity on a tabletop or an elevated surface, block the edges to prevent robots from falling.

Step 2: Once your map is ready, place a few items such as toys on different spots on your map.

Tip: You can use any object, draw or write something on the map.

Step 3: Select a starting point for your robot, place it on the map and start using the coding environment to make your robot move to different items on the map.

Tip: Try to build a mission related to the items you have placed on the map and make your robot to accomplish it.
