“What we did and what we learned: Monitoring disability rights” by Canadian Human Rights Commission. Report on a survey from the Canadian Human Rights Commission on monitoring Canada's progress on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities. The report highlights demographic information of respondents, identifying barriers, and suggested courses of action.
“FP Canada Financial Stress Index 2024” by FP Canada. An annual report by FP Canada which surveys Canadians on sources and impacts of financial stress. In 2024 financial stress has been increasing, in particular among the younger age demographic leading to impacts on mental well-being.
“Measuring the Effectiveness of Financial Inclusion Efforts” by Oya Ardic / World Bank Group. A world bank document outlining the features of a financial inclusion framework, and how key perfoamnce indicators should be tracked, and how data can be collected to support reporting of those indicators.
“How to Measure Financial Inclusion“ by World Bank Group. A 2015 World Bank report that gives many examples of demand-side and supply-side surveys that measure progress toward financial inclusion targets.
“Impact of Access to Financial Services, including by highlighting Remittances on Development: Economic Empowerment of Women and Youth“ by United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, United Nations. Remittances may be a source of demand for financial services and contributor to financial inclusion. However, governments will need to implement well-designed comprehensive policies to nurture the financial systems/services, financial literacy and consumer empowerment needed.
“FP Canada 2024 Financial Stress Index“ by FP Canada. A year-over-year comparison of Canadians’ financial stress and the critical role of professional financial planners. The report indicates that money is still the top stressor, but that Canadians are more optimistic about their financial future.
“Finance for all? Policies and Pitfalls in Expanding Access“ by The International Bank for Reconstruction and Development / The World Bank. The report pays particular attention to the following themes: Measuring access, evaluation the impact of access, and polices to broaden access.
“Benchmarking Financial Systems around the World“ by Martin Čihák, Aslı Demirgüç-Kunt, Erik Feyen, and Ross Levine / The World Bank. The paper introduces the Global Financial Development Database which includes measures of financial depth, access, efficiency and stability. It also documents the global financial crisis to illustrate the difficulties this incurred across the measures.
“Financial Access“ by World Bank Group. The article looks at the process of financial access and how its implications and meanings change. It analyzes the iterations of access from the supply side and the user side, looks at how exclusion may occur directly, involuntarily and due to factors like moral hazards or adverse selections. It also looks at models under which credit systems are based and how they might be biased.
“Cross-country variation in financial inclusion: a global perspective“ by Mais Sha'ban, Claudia Girardone and Anna Sarkisyan / The European Journal of Finance. Financial inclusion appears to be positively and significantly associated with GDP per capita, employment, bank competition, human development, government integrity, and internet usage. It is also important to onsider the level of national income when designing policies to boost financial inclusion.
