Main interview

Using the computer at home

  • Uses the computer at home daily.
  • Uses the computer to check the email, watch some TV programs on the internet, read the online newspaper. Also searches information about thinks that is planning to buy. 
  • Uses exclusively IExplorer to browse, any other software.
  • Doesn't read e-books. 
  • His favorite website is GMail.

Wikipedia observation

  • He thinks that the page is clear. 
  • Finds easily information about the currency. 
  • When asked about finding information about the History, goes to the Content Table and clicks on "History". 
  • To read the whole page contents he would print it. Not because of vision problems, but because he understands better the information structure when printed (mental map), and he can also highlight or annotate the text
  • Says that he sees well this page, but explains that sometimes uses the Ctrl+mouse combination to enlarge the text if too small. 

Online newspaper

Selects http://www.lavanguardia.com/, a Spanish newspaper. 

  • He prefers reading on paper. Uses the computer just to read the last news. Finds difficult to find the news in the website, it's easier for him to locate them in the paper version (is a problem of mental mapping). 
  • The text size is ok for him, both at home and in the article page. 

Favorite website

He selects GMail as the favorite site.

  • Feels comfortable with the GMail design (not customized). Learnt it easily. 
  • Comments that Facebook is very confusing for him, because doesn't see a clear structure on the page. Says that there are a lot of option of information that he doesn't understand. Too many things.
