[10:32:29 CDT(-0500)] <jessm> fluid-everyone: still no connect for me

[10:32:31 CDT(-0500)] <jessm> no idea why

[10:32:41 CDT(-0500)] <jessm> i'm working with Iris on tying up about 3 SOWs and contracts today

[10:32:48 CDT(-0500)] <jessm> attended the UX mtg. this a.m.

[13:08:01 CDT(-0500)] <logiclord_> alexn1: did you saw yura in irc.. yesterday evening ?

[13:09:47 CDT(-0500)] <alexn1> logiclord_: not sure but he usually in the mornings

[13:11:26 CDT(-0500)] <logiclord_> alexn1: I am still not able to contact and he is not replying to mails too

[13:14:05 CDT(-0500)] <alexn1> logiclord_: ok I will shoot him an email about this

[13:14:28 CDT(-0500)] <logiclord_> alexn1: thanks

[13:14:41 CDT(-0500)] <alexn1> just sent

[13:24:04 CDT(-0500)] <logiclord_> How can we make text in a div selectable only via keyboard ??

[13:25:34 CDT(-0500)] <Justin_o> logiclord_: just out of curiosity, why is it that you only want it selectable by the keyboard?

[13:27:48 CDT(-0500)] <logiclord_> Justin_o: because its by default supported via mouse so I need to add keyboard only

[13:36:24 CDT(-0500)] <Justin_o> logiclord_: okay.. so you want to add keyboard support on top of the existing mouse support, got it

[13:36:46 CDT(-0500)] <Justin_o> logiclord_: and when you say selectable, do you mean focusable?

[13:37:27 CDT(-0500)] <logiclord_> Justin_o: ideally something like cursor in adobe reader or word

[13:37:36 CDT(-0500)] <logiclord_> selection cursor

[13:41:10 CDT(-0500)] <Justin_o> logiclord_: hmm.. i'm guessing you mean be able to select any text like you would in some form field like a text box or text area.. i'm not sure of a way to do that with the keyboard.

[13:41:41 CDT(-0500)] <logiclord_> Justin_o: even I am not able to find one

[13:43:25 CDT(-0500)] <Justin_o> logiclord_: hmm.. in Firefox on Ubunutu 12.04 i'm able to do this with the keyboard by default

[13:43:52 CDT(-0500)] <Justin_o> using ctrl-shift+arrow

[13:44:16 CDT(-0500)] <logiclord_> Justin_o: e.g. if a div have p and img tags then u are able to select them by default ??

[13:45:15 CDT(-0500)] <Justin_o> logiclord_: i guess i need to be fully clear on what you want to do.. do you want to just be able to use the tab key to move focus to these elements.. or are you trying to select the text for example to do cut and paste

[13:45:48 CDT(-0500)] <logiclord_> tab to reach a dov and then select text in that div

[13:45:53 CDT(-0500)] <logiclord_> *div

[13:46:22 CDT(-0500)] <Justin_o> if you want to just tab to an element you can set it's tabindex to 0

[13:46:52 CDT(-0500)] <Justin_o> I think this will do it <div tabindex=0></div>

[13:46:54 CDT(-0500)] <logiclord_> i am able to reach div using tab but how to select text ?

[13:48:47 CDT(-0500)] <Justin_o> logiclord_: yes… so this is what i mean… in firefox on linux it seems to work.. if you use the cmd-shift-arrow keys it lets you go character by character or line by line.. (i'm using a mac as the host machine).

[13:49:19 CDT(-0500)] <logiclord_> Justin_o: let me test

[13:49:49 CDT(-0500)] <Justin_o> logiclord_: these keys are used on the mac already, so it doesn't work there.. but if you go into the preferences in firefox > go to the advance tab > check "Always use the cursor keys to navigate within pages"

[13:49:58 CDT(-0500)] <Justin_o> you should be able to use the keyboard to make selections

[13:50:22 CDT(-0500)] <Justin_o> mind you the user will have to make these adjustments to get it to work, not sure if there is a way to force it to always work or work across browsers

[13:50:31 CDT(-0500)] <Justin_o> logiclord_: ^

[13:53:15 CDT(-0500)] <logiclord_> Justin_o: then I need to find a way out

[13:54:34 CDT(-0500)] <Justin_o> logiclord_: if you find/make something please let me know, i'm curious to see

[13:54:56 CDT(-0500)] <logiclord_> Justin_o: Will keep u posted (smile)

[13:55:01 CDT(-0500)] <Justin_o> thanks
