fluid-work IRC Logs-2012-04-20

[09:16:49 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> cindyli, could you read this JIRA description and let me know if it makes sense to you?

[09:16:56 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> http://issues.fluidproject.org/browse/FLUID-4703

[09:30:34 CDT(-0500)] <cindyli> yes, makes sense, anastasiac

[09:30:44 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> thanks, anastasiac

[09:30:52 CDT(-0500)] <cindyli> lol

[09:30:52 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> fixing this does seem to fix the problem

[09:31:17 CDT(-0500)] <cindyli> cool. thanks for creating the jira with a detail explanation

[09:31:25 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> but interestingly, cindyli, upgrading to the latest Infusion causes a bit of problems with your login panel stuff (smile) Probably easy to fix

[09:31:47 CDT(-0500)] <cindyli> what the problem? anastasiac

[09:32:04 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> after initialization, the login panel is initially not hidden, cindyli

[09:32:19 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> I'll look into the changes in the SlidingPanel events

[09:32:30 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> I'm just writing a test for the UIEnhancer bug now

[09:33:00 CDT(-0500)] <cindyli> thanks anastasiac. let me know if you want me to look into the login panel problem.

[09:33:10 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> thanks, cindyli

[09:33:23 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> if I have problems, I'll come to you

[09:33:24 CDT(-0500)] <cindyli> np.

[09:33:32 CDT(-0500)] <cindyli> sure. anytime

[09:54:52 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> Justin_o, in working on the IDI site, I found a bug in the UI Enhancer and filed it: http://issues.fluidproject.org/browse/FLUID-4703. I've pushed a branch to my github with a fix (and a test) and issued a pull request. Do you think you might be able to have a look at it? It's relatively small.

[09:56:44 CDT(-0500)] <Justin_o> anastasiac: sure i can take a look at that.. i wonder if cindyli remembers if there was a reason we had done it like this

[09:57:00 CDT(-0500)] <Justin_o> anastasiac: also where have you tested your fix so far?

[09:57:11 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> I've talked with cindyli about this when we discovered it, she concurs with the solution, I think

[09:57:27 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> I ran all the unit tests, checked the fix in our own demo and on the IDI site

[09:58:08 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> I tried it quickly on Studios, and the change didn't seem to have any noticeable effect (i.e. didn't break anything) but I'll test more closely (need to swap dev environments)

[09:58:23 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> I will also try the handbook site

[09:58:27 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> at least, locally

[09:58:30 CDT(-0500)] <Justin_o> anastasiac: great thanks.. also which browsers have you tried it on?

[09:58:44 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> ah, good question, Justin_o: not enough (smile)

[09:58:54 CDT(-0500)] <Justin_o> anastasiac: i wonder if this would have fixed some issues we were having with johnnys studios updates before

[09:59:02 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> I wonder

[09:59:09 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> I'm not familiar with what the issues were

[10:00:18 CDT(-0500)] <Justin_o> anastasiac: sorry.. yes.. just thinking aloud, in text

[10:00:27 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> np

[10:00:41 CDT(-0500)] <Justin_o> anastasiac: um one more question.. does this number default to px if we don't have the unit specified

[10:00:44 CDT(-0500)] <Justin_o> ?

[10:01:10 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> no, it remains unitless and is interpreted by browsers as a scaling factor, which is what we want

[10:01:19 CDT(-0500)] <Justin_o> anastasiac: thanks

[10:31:04 CDT(-0500)] <Justin_o> anastasiac: the lineSpacer tests are failing in IE9

[10:31:13 CDT(-0500)] <Justin_o> but the demo looks okay, so may be something with the test

[10:31:23 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> ok, Justin_o, I'll have a look at the test

[10:32:01 CDT(-0500)] <Justin_o> thanks

[11:12:53 CDT(-0500)] <Justin_o> anastasiac: i just tested IE6, same as IE 9..

[11:13:09 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> yes, Justin_o, IE8 does the same

[11:13:12 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> we're looking at it

[11:13:33 CDT(-0500)] <Justin_o> anastasiac: okay.. probably all the IE's are the same then.. anywhere else you needed me to test it in?

[11:13:48 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> no, I don't think so, thanks Justin_o

[11:14:28 CDT(-0500)] <Justin_o> anastasiac: no problem

[12:00:25 CDT(-0500)] <jessm> anastasiac: cindyli: how is the floe iteration going?

[12:01:09 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> jessm, we're working on the IDI site this week, it's going pretty well, nearing the end. RIght now, we're addressing a bug we found in Infusion

[12:01:19 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> we weren't expecting the finish the IDI site this week

[12:01:43 CDT(-0500)] <jessm> as far as our marching orders for this week, how are we? http://wiki.fluidproject.org/display/fluid/Floe+Iteration+Plan

[12:01:49 CDT(-0500)] <jessm> and when i say we, i mean y'all

[12:05:45 CDT(-0500)] <jessm> anastasiac: ^

[12:07:04 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> jessm, I'd say we.ve done IDI-4, IDI-14, IDI-12, IDI-11, IDI-7, IDI-9

[12:07:17 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> cindyli's working on IDI-5

[12:07:39 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> still to do 6, 8, 10 (no designs for 10 yet)

[12:12:54 CDT(-0500)] <jessm> jvass: you working on idi-10 by any chance?

[12:13:29 CDT(-0500)] <colinclark> anastasiac: I was just catching up on the channel discussion...

[12:13:37 CDT(-0500)] <colinclark> Do you think we should test your patch in OER Commons as well?

[12:13:58 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> colinclark, yes, that's on my list

[12:15:01 CDT(-0500)] <colinclark> Sounds like a patch like this could be really great, but also worth testing really thoroughly in any and all environments we use UIO for, since it could potentially have a big impact.

[12:21:59 CDT(-0500)] <jessm> anastasiac: have you checked in with jvass ?

[12:22:11 CDT(-0500)] <jvass> jessm: James said that we're not doing the designs for that for now, until we get more information on the content

[12:22:11 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> bess, jessm, we just chatted

[12:22:30 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> james says that we're likely not going to be adding the education page initially (which is IDI-10)

[12:27:57 CDT(-0500)] <jessm> ok, cool

[12:28:33 CDT(-0500)] <jessm> anastasiac: as far as you and cindyli are concerned are you ready to switch gears on Monday to the demo?

[12:29:16 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> jessm, yes, that's what I was expecting. The IDI site won't be finished, but we have time set aside to finish it later

[12:30:00 CDT(-0500)] <jessm> great

[15:01:45 CDT(-0500)] <cindyli> anastasiac: i just submitted a pull request for adding in "research" page (IDI-5): https://github.com/inclusive-design/idi-theme/pull/11

[15:01:53 CDT(-0500)] <cindyli> can u have a look? thanks

[15:01:59 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> thanks, cindyli, I will

[15:16:47 CDT(-0500)] <Justin_o> anastasiac, cindyli: I merged the pull request into the project repo and sent a small update to the thread on the work list

[15:17:16 CDT(-0500)] <cindyli> thanks, Justin_o

[15:19:18 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> Justin_o, thanks!

[15:19:50 CDT(-0500)] <Justin_o> thank you both for the fix

[15:29:10 CDT(-0500)] <Justin_o> fluid-everyone: I'll be heading off for two weeks of vacation.. did you anyone need anything from me before I head out

[15:29:25 CDT(-0500)] <clown> have a good one Justin_o

[15:29:35 CDT(-0500)] <anastasiac> Justin_o, have a great vacation!

[15:30:54 CDT(-0500)] <jessm> Justin_o: have a great break

[15:30:56 CDT(-0500)] <jessm> we'll miss you

[15:33:05 CDT(-0500)] <Justin_o> Thanks everyone (smile)
