Planning Matrices

This is a work area for planning Fluid User Reseach.

Planning Steps

  • Establish research goals
  • Select Attributes and for each (set of values of interest to meet goals)
  • Select institutions that meet Attribute matrix
  • Who at each institution can participate?
  • Form teams
  • Contextual Inquiry training (via Breeze)
    • Create training materials
      • Step by step how to conduct a contextual inquiry
      • Research goals and questions to ask
      • Visit Checklist (what do you need to take on a visit)
      • How to recruit users and who should you recruit?
    • Online resources
    • Schedule of training sessions? May need several to cover all teams.
    • How to record data
  • Schedule of Contextual Inquiries (roadmap)
  • How to share data back to community
  • Can we all get together for a few days at the end of CIs to analyze all data?
  • Next steps?  What should we do with all this data?

User Research Attributes

The following table lists all the Attributes under consideration along with all their possible values.

This table can be used for planning the User Research effort.  As decisions are made to scope the user research, values for each attribute not being considered can be removed.  Rationale for each set of attribute values can be listed in the table as well.

Selection of Institutions

This table can be used for listing specific institutions that are being selected for User Research and who there would participate.  Also shown in the table are how the selected institutions cover off the important attributes and their values listed in the table above.
