  • How to ensure the tools meet the needs of those who will use them? Co-design

  • Tools which can be used with diverse groups around the world

  • A platform that youth groups can use to share their experience in using these tools

  • Changing the mindset of using social media - as a way to develop skills, not just to chat etc

    • E.g. learning about sexual health - social media can be used as a tool for this purpose, to navigate/resist the taboos of talking about it

    • the TIGed classroom (which is mobile friendly, LMS) could be used for this if we wanted to (would be subject to bandwidth restrictions in country however)

    • similar to the iteration of outside in - but perhaps altered for low bandwidth environments

    • Teacher or self-directed learnings to take place - deployed through OutsideIN

    • TIG worked with USAID - 2 different iterations - deploy learning environments and curriculums - were going to work in Rwanda but found that needed access and literacy weren’t there

    • Contacts with Rwandan government - possible to re-connect there

    • Looks like they are aiming to train 40k young people in country

Mobilisation and capacity building of diverse young women with learning differences should be done. There is a need to develop inclusive platforms,spaces and tools that facilitate participation of young women and girls in the development processes and programmes at all levels.

Follow up should be make on developing a youth inclusive Business development plan trainings and materials. A basic training was provided but a more comprehensive training contextualized to the needs of young people with learning differences should  be developed. Exchange programmes and platforms could tap into this aspect to enable young people share on how to manage your business and how you develop a business plan for your business.

Inclusive design trainings for and of youth organizations, youth cooperatives and young people with learning differences should be carried out to establish a culture of inclusive practices and inclusion of all categories of young people with learning differences in design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of policies and programmes at all levels.

Capacity building for organizations and cooperatives is required to enable them develop Inclusion strategy that guides them on how to work and include diverse categories of young people with learning differences including young people with disabilities, Indigenous youth, young people living on streets.

Another follow up activity is that of promoting the use of inclusive Mobile technologies and social media as learning and empowering tools for young people with learning differences. Young people should be empowered on how to use their mobile phones and social media platforms as tools and learning resources to improve their livelihood and access information. They should be empowered on how to use them to raise their voices for inclusion and participation in the development processes.

Rwanda has invested heavily in the ICT sector, both in infrastructure and human capital development. Going forward our ambition is to develop even higher ICT training standards and become a regional training hub for East Africa.

In this context building new partnerships with outstanding training institutions, such as TakingIT Global, is a major strategic priority for Rwanda's Government
