Create-a-Thon event introduction script

Welcome and thank you for coming to our Create-a-Thon.

Introduce self. I'm (name) and I am (indicate relevant information).

We are so pleased you are here with us today. 

Today you will be taking part in group and individual sessions. The intention of these sessions is to draw on your unique perspectives. We will be playing and imagining, talking and building, collaborating and discovering.

The results of this event will not only inform a project we are working on, but it will also contribute beyond that one project and into broader thinking and knowledge of how to design inclusively.

You may be wondering when we are going to talk about “the project”, well, not to worry, that will come at the end of the session. We’ve organized it this way so the focus is on your perspectives and we’re not distracted by an existing artifact, project or product. 

The schedule we’ve planned for the afternoon is on your handouts. The handouts you got today is the same content that was emailed to you a couple of days ago:

12 to 12:45       Lunch, Welcome Message and Introductions

12:45 to 1         Hands-on play       

1 to 1:15           Personal design time        

1:15 to 1:45      Collaborative game design           

1:45 to 2           Snack Break           

2 to 2:30           Collaborative design sharing / debrief  

2:30 to 2:45      Re-visit and iterate on personal design

2:45 to 3           Wrap-up
