[09:57:12 EDT(-0400)] <athena> what are the current jquery / jquery ui dependency versions for fluid 1.1?
[09:57:27 EDT(-0400)] <colinclark> athena: Good question, let me check.
[09:57:43 EDT(-0400)] <colinclark> I don't think we've done an upgrade in awhile, so it's probably jQuery 1.3.1 and UI 1.7
[09:57:43 EDT(-0400)] <athena> thanks - i can never remember where to find that
[09:57:47 EDT(-0400)] <athena> ok
[09:57:51 EDT(-0400)] <athena> sounds plausible (smile)
[09:58:08 EDT(-0400)] <colinclark> athena: I always just end up looking in the source code, which is lame. But I think it's in the README file at the root of our distribution now.
[09:58:34 EDT(-0400)] <athena> oh! awesome, thanks (smile)
[09:58:49 EDT(-0400)] <colinclark> Yep, it's in the README
[09:58:55 EDT(-0400)] <colinclark> And it's correct.
[09:59:08 EDT(-0400)] <colinclark> Thanks in part to Justin_o, I imagine.
[09:59:13 EDT(-0400)] <colinclark> It's jQuery 1.3.2 and UI 1.7
[10:00:16 EDT(-0400)] <athena> great, thanks

[10:19:18 EDT(-0400)] <everettz> morning
[10:20:03 EDT(-0400)] <everettz> when hiding, and revealing, content to a screen-reader is JS used to modify the class of an element, or the style of the element?
[10:27:14 EDT(-0400)] * clown (n=clown@142.150.154.101) has joined #fluid-work
[10:29:07 EDT(-0400)] <colinclark> everettz: It depends on the context. Typically, it'd done by switching the display property of an element back and forth.
[10:29:14 EDT(-0400)] <colinclark> That's how the jQuery.hide() and show() methods work.
[10:29:40 EDT(-0400)] <colinclark> We've found that, in some contexts, this isn't appropriate and we'll do a variety of other things. But to generalize, display: "none" is pretty typical.
[10:30:39 EDT(-0400)] <everettz> colinclark: do you know of a page with a simple implementation where I can test this? Curious if it requires refreshing the JAWS buffer when display is set back to inline / block.
[10:30:47 EDT(-0400)] <colinclark> hmm
[10:31:03 EDT(-0400)] <colinclark> I guess it'd be easy to whip something up
[10:31:24 EDT(-0400)] <colinclark> Maybe a link that will toggle visibility of an element?
[10:32:01 EDT(-0400)] <everettz> colinclark: still pondering why the inline edit requires refresh of the buffer. also working on an issue for drupal http://drupal.org/node/473396
[10:32:24 EDT(-0400)] <colinclark> everettz: Lemme just whip up a super-simple example and we'll see how it goes.
[10:32:25 EDT(-0400)] <everettz> colinclark: yes, that would do
[10:39:18 EDT(-0400)] <colinclark> everettz: What's the best way to send it to you? A pastebin, or email, or something?
[10:41:37 EDT(-0400)] <colinclark> everettz: I'm running out of batteries and have to run, so I fired it to you as an email.
[10:41:58 EDT(-0400)] <colinclark> Two files: the html with inline JavaScript (ick, but simple and easy to understand) and jQuery
[10:42:14 EDT(-0400)] <colinclark> I'm using jQuery hide() and show(), which basically just sets the display: property
[10:42:21 EDT(-0400)] <colinclark> There's a div and a link below it.
[10:42:29 EDT(-0400)] <colinclark> The div is hidden and shown by activating the link
[10:42:38 EDT(-0400)] <colinclark> It should get you started, anyway.
[10:42:54 EDT(-0400)] <colinclark> everettz: Hope this helps.
